Pine trees grow in the mountains, in the gardens of private homes in villages, and in parks. The branches of young pine trees point straight up, while the branches of older pine trees branch out finely. It's a good idea to go and see the older pine trees after a windy day. I’ll find some beautiful twigs. When the cold winter comes, it's time to tend to the garden trees in the villages. That's why I’ll have more opportunities to talk to gardeners. The more well-tended the pine trees are in the garden, the more beautiful the twigs they will be pruned.

松の樹は山にも、集落の庭にも、公園にも育っている木です。若い松の樹の枝は直線的に上を目指し、樹齢の高い松の樹の枝は細かく枝分かれしています。風が吹いた日の後は、樹齢の高い松の樹に会いにいくと良いのです。素敵な小枝が見つかります。冬の寒い頃になると、集落の庭木を手入れする時期。庭屋さんと話す機会が増えるのはこのためです。よく手入れされた庭の松ほど、素晴らしい小枝が剪定されるものです。

野生動物は季節や天候によって行動をかえ、風景が変化するリズムに則って行動しているそうですが、なかなかやるなと思っています。松は風景を繋いでゆく重要な要素の一つだと感じています。


Many branches grew freely in search of light. It doesn't suit my convenience.
I observe the shape and center of gravity of the branches and choose different
methods for each branch according to its personality. One way to do this is to use thin rods to spread out the branches and shape them into trusses. I will change the center
of gravity while keeping the shape stable. A thin branch has a center of gravity that creates a favorable posture, and the thin branch is supported with pins to stabilize it. These are determined by observation.

枝は光を求めて自由に伸びた結果の形をしています。それは私の都合に合わせたものではないため、私は一つずつ枝の形や重心を観察して創作する方法を変えていきます。細いピンを使用して枝を広げ、トラスの形を作り出していくこともその方法の一つです。重心を変化させながら安定した形状をつくり出しています。好ましい姿勢をつくり出す重心の位置を細い枝に持たせ、その細い枝をピンで支えて安定させる。これらは観察によって決められるものです。
