This is a Inutsuge branch that has come out of the rhythm of a young family who has started living in the village and is gradually taking care of the garden. They are my studio neighbors and my miso-making teacher. They are resistant to agitation and grow in clusters along the riverbank, making it an important habitat for small plants and animals. Pigeons, which seem carefree and knowledgeable, do not miss such places. Also, when it rains, rivers in the valley collect water from the mountains and swell, giving the Sasa the right of way. Although there are no more rafts to be seen, trucks full of lumber are still driving along the riverside road. The area where my studio is located has a rhythm of small and large circulations. The village where the studio is located is surrounded by mountains where trees are grown for forestry. Trees grown over several decades are milled into lumber in this city. And the saplings are grown on the outskirts of the nearest city. There is a cycle within a very small area, where a sapling sprouts in the city, grows large on the mountain that can be seen there, and is cut down to become a wooden house in the city. There is a river running through the valley of the village where my studio is located. In summer, fireflies dance on this river. In summer, many children visit the river and it becomes lively. I look forward to seeing the winter scenery that I see every year again next year. The pine twigs were given to me by a gardener who was in charge of pruning the shrine. Peeling the bark off pine trees is one of the techniques used in gardening and bonsai. The beautiful skin of the pine tree was revealed to match the color of the Tsugumi’s feathers, and the hidden flowing branches were revealed through pruning. I added a stainless steel rod to give some functionality to the beautiful twigs.
