The glow of autumn rain : Rotate_individual
¥100,000
COMING SOON
As the Keyaki trees turn red and lose their leaves, their branches become more distinct as winter approaches. The twigs, wet with the quiet autumn rain, show spider's threads swaying as they catch the raindrops. It was the autumn rain that allowed me to encounter the shining, swaying branches of the Zelkova tree. It was also the autumn rain that interrupted and postponed the sports day that my son and daughter had been looking forward to, and forced me, unable to concentrate, to head to the studio. Taking the rhythm as a clue, I think that if it had been a summer evening shower when the leaves were lush, this twig would not have been visible. I cannot decide whether this autumn rain is good or bad, so I would like to leave it at that. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_470mm Kintsugied Trussed Twisted ◆Material Branch dropped by a zelkova tree ( thoroughly dried and reinforced )_植物 Pebble on the River_河原の小石 Brass_真鍮 Stainless steel ( reinforced )_ステンレス鋼 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. Yuzu_Layered rhythm swaying in the wind : Swing_individual
¥55,000
COMING SOON
The area where my studio is located has a rhythm of small and large circulations. The village where the studio is located is surrounded by mountains where trees are grown for forestry. Trees grown over several decades are milled into lumber in this city. And the saplings are grown on the outskirts of the nearest city. There is a cycle within a very small area, where a sapling sprouts in the city, grows large on the mountain that can be seen there, and is cut down to become a wooden house in the city. The rhythm of large cycles over several decades forms the backbone of this region's scenery. The backbone of this region's scenery is connected to various human industries, and alongside these are the lives of a variety of plants and animals. Leaves that grow every year and sway in the wind. Large branches that occasionally break due to falling snow. Plants that are cultivated in a planned manner and plants in private homes that are cared for based on the season. A bird spreads seeds and sheds its feathers, and a deer lives in the mountains and sheds its antlers. Our scenery lies in the balance between each element, and each element creates a different material with its own rhythm. The solid wood of cedar and cypress that I like to use can be called the backbone that supports the scenery of this region. I feel that the small rhythm of the scenery that repeats itself over and over again lies within these beautiful tree rings. Paying attention to the cyclical rhythms that overlap in the scenery, I reconsider the balance by giving each material its appropriate role. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_530mm Trussed ◆Material Twig ( reinforced )_植物 *color of the Yuzu (There is a little bit of green left) will gradually change to a light brown. Heron dancing in the valley wind: Rotate x2 _individual

Apparently, a long time ago, this place was the bottom of the sea, which is why there is limestone and flint in the river in the valley. it seems that it is not here by chance. The mountains collect rain in the valleys, and when the trees drop their twigs, the river slowly returns them to the soil. A heron stands leisurely beside a pebble that the water has patiently polished, watching the riverbed reflect the light in small increments. It notices my gaze and flies away. Today, as the sun rises and warms the mountain slope, a small breeze begins to flow in the river in the valley. When the rhythm of large mechanisms and the rhythm of small daily life resonate with each other, the skeleton of the scenery seems to emerge. This is part of my consideration of a stately town. I wonder how many complex chains are behind this simple chain of balance. Twig on a Journey : Rotate_individual

The Irumagawa River flows near the studio. It descends the mountain and joins the Arakawa River, irrigating the Kanto Plain before heading out to Tokyo Bay. Once it leaves Tokyo Bay, it can travel the world by connecting with ocean currents. The upper reaches of the Irumagawa River are known as the Naguri River, and the valley is filled with the scenery of fireflies dancing. He was born and raised in such a scenery. I wonder what he was looking at as he floated down the valley river. He might have glanced at a white egret standing on a small rock, and depending on the season, he might have gazed at wisteria flowers flowing down the river, or autumn leaves jutting out from both banks. Along the way, he probably missed sudden summer rains and missed the rising water. In winter, when the river's water level is low, he must have been left waiting on the shore. I repaired one of the missing branch with brass branch. The brass branch stretch out to ride the river water, wandering around looking for their proper position. Listening carefully to the twig as it tilts its head slightly, I learnt that there was something missing. That was a small brass sprout. When a twig leaning against a pebble in the valley starts to sway in the river water, I feel as if a large, continuous cycle is beginning to turn. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_000mm Kintsugied ◆Material Twig ( thoroughly dried )_植物 Brass_真鍮 Limestone pebble on the river_河原の石灰岩 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. Connected neighbors : Swing_individual

Each individuals grows in a different place, dropping twigs in their own rhythm, and I happen to pick them up and find them on my workbench. The reason why these short twigs met is because I can't throw away the ends of twigs and I've been collecting them. There are various reasons why they are small but have a good shape, or the bark is very beautiful. I know I should throw them away right away, but it's not that easy. They have different barks. The ages are also different. Since they grow in different places, their cultures must also be different. But when I saw them lined up, I thought there was a rhythm to the colors of the scenery. Most plants are thicker at the base and thinner at the tip. This is due to the efficient distribution of appropriate cross-sectional areas to withstand external forces such as wind. At the same time, it means that many plants have cross-sections with similar thickness somewhere. The fact that the tip of a large tree's branches as you look up is similar in thickness to the grass roots at your feet. That seems to suggest that there are connectable parts somewhere between different things. A keyaki tree grows out from the tip of a yuzu tree, or a lily grows out from the tip of a cherry tree. I feel that by effortlessly connecting the curves of these non-straight twigs, it becomes a living scenery. If I look for parts of twigs that can be connected from each other's sides, I can usually find them. When I tried to find a connection based on one side's convenience, I felt like I was stuck. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. When using very large pines in Ikebana, especially in large works such as “OOSUNAMONO”, it is said that branches from different pines are sometimes brought together and joined together. This has been done since the Azuchi-Momoyama period (16th century!), and I think I have been influenced by it without even realizing it. I have become very interested in Ikebana and Sadou after seeing the movies 「日々是好日」「花戦さ」 and 「PERFECT DAYS」 recently. If you have the opportunity, please check them out. I recommend it. ーーー ◆Size Height_690mm Connected ◆Material Twig ( thoroughly dried and reinforced )_植物 *6 types of twigs are connected Weathered twig_Akashide_Sakura_Matsu_Unknown_Keyaki Brass_真鍮 Solid Japanese cedar_杉無垢材 ◆Type of movement □ Rotate ■ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. 野良松に鳩_Bird flies in the wind and spread the seeds : Rotate_individual
¥83,000
COMING SOON
Bird flies in the wind and spread the seeds 小鳥は風に舞い種を撒く - - - This is a twig from an untended wild pine tree. Fallen pine needles pile up little by little, causing the lower branches to bend, and the weight of the pile causes the twigs to eventually fall. Perhaps the pine tree breaks its branches at its own rhythm. They are not waiting for a strong wind to snap its branches. I'm not sure if it's saying, "These branches and leaves are enough for me, so please feel free to pick them up," but I'll pick them up before they return to the earth. Thank you. The stray pigeons that often drop their feathers while searching nearby may know the details of this situation. I would like to ask them what lies beyond Metabolism. - - - When the season comes, many small birds eat nuts from trees and scatter seeds, and by giving them nuts, trees transport the seeds to distant locations. I think it's a very good relationship with a sustained rhythm. And the balance is only possible when there are birds of prey that target the small birds. I admire the ukiyo-e prints that depict familiar plants and my neighbor's birds. Apparently, during the Edo period, common people like me lived in small houses. Therefore, not everyone could keep small birds or grow plants freely. Going on a journey is also difficult. That's why they decorated their rooms with trendy birds and plants, and enjoyed the feeling of traveling through ukiyo-e prints of famous tourist spots. (I'm sure there are various theories, so please understand that I've researched and written a little about what I know :) I used materials created by the cyclical rhythm of the scenery. The bolt from the blue : Rotate_individual

Whether it was the heavy snowfall in winter or the strong winds in early spring, the branches had been broken off at the ends of the branches. In the summer, it was covered with many leaves. I think they must have been surprised when the branch was unexpectedly broken. The tree might have been frustrated for a while. The branches that fell into the river might be decomposed and become the next source of nutrients, or they might be picked up by me walking along the riverbank and become a source of livelihood. I think the randomness of the rhythm of the scenery is also part of the dynamic balance. While I was thinking about this, a bolt from the blue hit the twig. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_360mm ◆Material Twig dropped by tree_小枝 Brass_真鍮 Pebbles on the River_河原の石 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. Bird flies in the wind and spread the seeds 小鳥は風に舞い種を撒く - - - Hiyodori perched on a Yuzu tree. Yuzu trees that grow in the area surrounding the studio brighten up the scenery with their yellow fruits. Yuzu has sharp thorns on its branches that protect the fruit and young branches. Although the thorns are troublesome, the Hiyodori avoids them and pecks at the carefully cultivated fruit. Many activities are intricately intertwined in the balance of this peaceful scenery. In the past, taxation on fruit trees was done by having officials visually inspect the trees. Off the main road, on the edge of the mountain where lumber is grown, yuzu trees are planted in small alleys. This is what gives the region's scenery its flavor. - - - When the season comes, many small birds eat nuts from trees and scatter seeds, and by giving them nuts, trees transport the seeds to distant locations. Pebbles of delight : Rotate_individual
¥75,000

The mountain fragments are polished by the river in the valley. I had come to think that this gradual, ceaseless work was the result of repeated rains that came and went. But I began to think that this was not the case. I recently learned that the white-capped river is a seasonal scene. In winter, the river is quiet and has little water, and the sandbar is wider. In summer, the river has white caps and contains more pebbles under the water. I realized that these pebbles had not been polished in a uniform, steady, and smooth manner. There may have been days of suffering when they were left behind on the sandbar. Looking at the broken pebbles on the riverbank, I imagine that they must have broken against their will, and that their efforts were not rewarded. I think it's amazing how hard this pebble has worked. It must have been adjusting its mind to the rhythm of the seasons, waiting so as not to miss its chance. When it rained and the water in the river rose, this pebble must have danced. I think it was a delight dance, going with the flow and dancing comfortably. A lot of timber and lime was needed to build the city of Edo(1603-1868). The timber grown around these mountains and the limestone extracted from the mountains were transported to Edo, which is said to have had a population of one million in the 1700s, and were an industry that supported the region at the time. The cedar fields in the mountains and the small limestone rocks encountered in riverbanks - these elements of the scenery we see around us today seem to be connected to the Edo scenery. The recent trend of Tokyo's cityscape becoming more woody again feels like the latest in a larger story. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_460mm ◆Material Limestone pebble on the river_河原の石灰岩 Solid Japanese cedar_無垢杉材 Brass_真鍮 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. A bird sings on a new branch : Rotate_individual
¥42,000

The town's maintenance is carried out at a regular rhythm. I was given some old branches that came from this maintenance. They are of a different thickness to the branches that the trees shed at their own rhythm. I think it's necessary to make small changes to the towns we're used to living in, while understanding the old things and moving in new directions. If the rhythm of change is too fast it can seem sad, but if it's too slow it can lead to decline, so I think that's the difficulty. On the old branch I received, there was a trace of a missing twig. A brass branch sprouted from the spot where the twig had been, and the old branch began to grow, searching for a center of gravity so that it could stand on its own. It has now grown to a position where a small bird can perch. I think that the old branches can grow brass branches in any direction. By using the history of the branch as a clue, we may be able to find a new direction to grow and achieve a new balance. With just a little more consideration, we may be able to create a branch tip that will make birds sing. The bolt from the blue : Rotate_individual

SOLD OUT
Whether it was the heavy snowfall in winter or the strong winds in early spring, the branches had been broken off at the ends of the branches. When a tree breaks a branch that connects to the trunk, it creates a defensive layer inside the trunk to prevent decay from starting. The strangely shaped pieces of wood found on the mountain and the hard pieces of wood floating in the rivers in the valley are probably parts created by this defensive reaction. This hard piece of wood that has remained unrotted is surely one of them. As I gaze absentmindedly at the scenery, it teaches me the rhythm of what is visible, but it seems that each tree also has its own rhythm of decay and return to the soil. I don't know what happened to this tree to cause it to create a defensive layer, but I imagine it must have been standing strong in the mountains. I think the randomness of the rhythm of the scenery is also part of the dynamic balance. While I was thinking about this, a bolt from the blue hit the twig. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_390mm ◆Material Twig dropped by tree_小枝 Brass_真鍮 Pebbles on the River_河原の石 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. These are leaves that a magnolia tree is dropping. This is a holly tree. It grows in the mountains, on riverbanks in valleys, and in the hedges of private homes. When young, its leaves have many thorns, and apparently the more they are exposed to danger, the more thorns they have. I wonder if people are bringing the scenery they see in the mountains into their homes and making use of these characteristics in their daily lives. The azaleas that bloom in the village were apparently transplanted from the mountains. Perhaps the holly tree on the private home also came from the mountains. It feels as though the scenery of the mountains and everyday life blend together. Recently, deer and bears have been appearing frequently in the area around my studio. These are the hard shells of mountain wisteria beans. Mountain wisteria is troublesome when it grows in the mountains and tightens timber, but the beautiful flowers it blooms in spring are dotted throughout the village. The trees from the mountains are used to build the village's houses, and the river in the valley polishes even the concrete fragments indiscriminately. The mountain wisteria on the riverbank blooms like a waterfall, and wisteria trellises are dotted around the village, spreading their spray. I think the balance here is much more complex than one might think. Recently, deer and bears have been appearing frequently in the area around my studio. This is a Karatachi twig. It is protected by impressive thorns, but the fruit is said to be tasteless, so I thought it was just for decoration, but it seems that's not the case. It seems that more than 90% of citrus fruits grown in Japan are grafted onto Karatachi, so there seems to be a connection between Karatachi and the yuzu orchards that dot the village. Perhaps if I want to increase the number of yuzu orchards, I need to grow trifoliate oranges? This could be one clue to unraveling the rhythm and balance of the scenery. Recently, deer and bears have been appearing frequently in the area around my studio. Shinjyu swaying in the wind : Rotate_individual
¥40,000
SOLD OUT
In the mountainous area near Tokyo where my studio is located, villages are dotted along the river that runs through the valley. Our scenery is created by interweaving the trees grown in the mountains for forestry purposes, the garden trees of the villages, and the native plants along the river. This is a branch of the Shinju tree after it has scattered its seeds. It's more of a cluster than a branch. In autumn, the Shinju tree leaves its seeds to the wind and drops these clusters every year. This part, which serves as the base for scattering the seeds, is hard and strong enough to not break in the wind. It grows in abundance in the area slightly downstream where silk is produced, and it is said that its leaves were used to feed silkworms. If I miss the season, there won't be any left, but there will be plenty of material falling at that time. If I follow the rhythm, I can get a steady supply. In the crown of this large Shinjyu tree that has dropped its leaves, there is a bird's nest made of intertwined branches. It was completely invisible in the summer, but once the leaves have fallen, the structure becomes clearly visible. Whose nest is it? I find myself noticing it without really observing it. Beautiful twigs are often found in winter. I thought that the occasional heavy snowfall and strong dry winter winds were responsible for breaking branches, but I realized that there was more to it than that. In the forestry industry, where trees are grown industrially, trees are cut down in the winter. This is because trees absorb less moisture in winter than in summer, which makes it easier to transport and reduces the risk of mold growing during storage. The bamboo used to make fans is also cut down in the winter for the same reason. On the other hand, pruning of garden trees is often done in winter when the trees' vigor has subsided. I think it depends on the tree species, but it seems that branches that have grown too much in winter are cut off to give them the strength to sprout in spring. Beautiful twigs are often found in winter, and there are several reasons why they are found in winter. Using nature has been practiced since ancient times. I admire the sense of balance that combines the rhythms of plants with human convenience and utilizes them just right. I feel that what I should do before using it is to observe it. Increase the resolution of the landscape. Also look at the history of the area. When I get closer and pick it up, I feel like I can see the rich materials of the mountainous area. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_340mm ◆Material Twig ( thoroughly dried and reinforced )_植物 Stainless steel ( reinforced )_ステンレス鋼 Brass_真鍮 Pebbles on the River_河原の石 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. 河原に雉_Bird flies in the wind and spread the seeds : Rotate_individual
¥43,000
COMING SOON
When the season comes, many small birds eat nuts from trees and scatter seeds, and by giving them nuts, trees transport the seeds to distant locations. I think it's a very good relationship with a sustained rhythm. And the balance is only possible when there are birds of prey that target the small birds. This is a feather dropped by a Japanese pheasant. In spring, pheasants can be heard chirping here and there, strolling through the grass along the riverbanks that run through the valleys. Once the season passes and they stop chirping, it's impossible to know where they are. In the fall, my wife found a pheasant in the field, but I was driving and couldn't see it. I guess it lives in that area and sings in the spring, so I hope to be able to take a photo one day using its signs as a clue. Feathers dropped by birds and twigs dropped by trees. Scenery change, but they last as long as the scenery remains balanced. This is the scenery of my area. This is just a momentary snapshot of the scenery there. Please enjoy it. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ※花鳥画出典_歌川広重『椿に鶯』国立国会図書館 デジタルコレクション ◆Size Height_280mm Feather_150mm ※ It moves just by walking nearby. ◆Material Fallen feather (Cleaned)_羽根 Stainless steel ( reinforced )_ステンレス鋼 Brass_真鍮 Pebbles on the River_河原の小石 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. The repeating rhythm of SHIRASAGI (White Heron) : Rotate_individual
¥55,000
SOLD OUT
The herons that used to catch fish in the shallow pebbled waters, perch in the treetops to catch the sun on chilly mornings, and stand watching the valley on snowy days, have now disappeared from their usual locations in the river. They have met and are now forming a colony. In one large colony I know of, they have already begun busily preparing to raise their young in the trees. During this time, they spend less time near the river and more time in the trees. The process of building nests in the trees, warming eggs, and feeding the chicks begins with spring and continues into summer. The white herons gather among the green cedars, creating an amazing scene that can only be seen at this time of year. They gather in the same place again this year, and I am happy to see the rhythm repeating itself. I think what supports this rhythm is the environment, with the trees in the same place as last year and the river flowing in the same place next year. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_350mm Feather_210mm ※ It moves just by walking nearby. The payment amount is the total of following. SHIRASAGI (White Heron) in love swaying in the wind : Rotate_individual

SOLD OUT
White Heron in love swaying in the wind I came across a very large colony of white herons. This is a decorative feather of a white heron that I found under the colony. These are special feathers with a rhythm that grow during the love season and fall off when nesting. This is the only season when herons shed their decorative feathers. However, the scenery, with its unique balance of leaves, twigs, lilies, and winter buds, produces materials one after another. It is very important to change my behavior according to overlapping rhythms in the scenery. If I stick to one rhythm, I may lose balance. I have a calendar based on my observations of nature so that I can be around this time of year again next year. I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony. ◆Size Height_380mm Feather_320mm ※ It moves just by walking nearby. ◆Material Fallen feathers(Cleaned)_羽根 Job's tears(bearing pedestal)_ジュズダマ Stainless steel ( reinforced )_ステンレス鋼 Brass_真鍮 Local limestone_石灰岩 ◆Type of movement ■ Rotate □ Swing □ Pivot ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following. 松_Layered rhythm swaying in the wind : Swing_individual

During the Edo period, rafts were built to carry lumber to the lumberyards near Tokyo Bay. I can see traces of this in the lumber from Fukagawa Lumberyard depicted by Hiroshige Utagawa. The reason the trees grow in the mountains around the studio is because they were cut down and then replanted. I believe there is a rhythm to an inexhaustible resource. ◆Size Height_530mm Twisted ◆Material Pine twig ( reinforced )_植物 Brass_真鍮 Copper_銅 Solid red pine_赤松無垢材 ◆Type of movement □ Pivot ■ Swing □ Rotate ◆ About price _海外からのご購入時において The payment amount is the total of following.
