The neighboring Tonbi（Japanese kite） always rests on the telephone pole across the river. Beyond the mountain pass lives a different Tonbi, and downstream, near the fields, lives yet another Tonbi. 隣人のとんびがいつも休んでいるのは川向こうの電信柱。 峠を越えた先には違うとんびが暮らしていて、下流の畑のあたりにはまた別のとんびが暮らしています。 In the small, open areas of land nestled in the mountains, there are settlements, each with its own small field to support their lives. It seems that the units in which humans live and the units in which Tonbi’s live are interconnected. Some leaves fall only once a year, at a specific time, while others fall with every gust of wind. Although it's not visible in the town, the presence of this twig here was no coincidence. Please check _About Shipping_ at the end. ーーー これは集落に若い家族が暮らし始め、庭の手入れを続けていく中で出てきた山柘植の枝。木材はこの集落を囲む山々で育てられてきた杉。集落の建物から、古くは江戸の街に用いられてきた素材です。石は集落の谷が磨いてきた河原の小石。石灰を採取してきた武甲山の下流域に当たる、この地域の小さな特徴を示す石灰岩です。 This is an Yamatsuge branch that appeared when a young family started living in the village and tended the garden. The wood is japanese cedar grown in the mountains surrounding the village. It was also used for village buildings, and was a material that created the townscapes of the Edo.The stones are pebbles from the riverside in the village valley, polished by the river water. The area where my studio is located has a rhythm of small and large circulations. The village where the studio is located is surrounded by mountains where trees are grown for forestry. Trees grown over several decades are milled into lumber in this city. And the saplings are grown on the outskirts of the nearest city. TONBI (kite) is circling in the sky above the village. The sight of them circling in the sky with their unique song is an essential element of the idyllic Japanese scenery. Mountain wisteria is troublesome when it grows in the mountains and tightens timber, but the beautiful flowers it blooms in spring are dotted throughout the village. The trees from the mountains are used to build the village's houses, and the river in the valley polishes even the concrete fragments indiscriminately. The mountain wisteria on the riverbank blooms like a waterfall, and wisteria trellises are dotted around the village, spreading their spray. It may seem obvious, but the twigs I encounter every day are all different. There are many different tree species, and even twigs of the same species will have different tendencies depending on where I encounter them. Branches that trees shed at their own rhythm all have parts broken off. Some twigs are imperfect but have good branches, and some have beautiful bark. The broken parts can have a strength, as if they have been weathered by the wind. A river flows around the studio, and there is a small dam upstream. KAMO（Ducks?） are often seen when searching for leaves and twigs. They are neighbors who are familiar with calm areas and build small paths along gently sloping banks. Before they know it, they are raising children, and they often appear in Japanese proverbs. スタジオの周辺には川が流れており、その上流には小さなダムがあります。 葉っぱや小枝を探しているとよく見かけるのが鴨。彼らは流れの穏やかな場所をよく知っていて、緩やかな傾斜の土手部分に小さな道を作る隣人です。気がつくと子育てしている彼らは、日本の諺にもよく登場する身近な存在です。 I feel like this is a representative example of something beautiful that is so familiar to me that even I had overlooked it. White Heron in love swaying in the wind 風にそよぐ恋する白鷺 I came across a very large colony of white herons. This is a decorative feather of a white heron that I found under the colony. These are special feathers with a rhythm that grow during the love season and fall off when nesting. 白鷺のとても大きなコロニーに出会いました。これはコロニーの下で見つけた白鷺の飾りばね。恋の季節に生えてきて、営巣すると抜け落ちるリズムを持った特殊な羽根です。 This is the only season when herons shed their decorative feathers.
