春めいて来たところで雪。咲き始めていた梅の小枝も、狩に勤しんでいた青鷺も、慣れない雪の静けさにみんな驚いたと思います。

I don't know if the twig broke because of a sudden wind or because of the snow that fell the other day. But thunder on a clear summer day is also a part of the scenery.

この小枝は突然の風に折れたのか、先日のような不意の雪で折れたのかわかりませんが、晴れた夏に突然雷を鳴らしてくるのも風景です。

Just as owls live in tree holes made by unexpectedly broken branches, I think the randomness of the rhythm of the landscape is also part of the supple balance. While I was thinking about this, a bolt from the blue hit the twig.

不意に折れた枝がつくる樹洞にフクロウがしたたかに暮らすように、風景のリズムが持つ乱数もしなやかなバランスの一部なのだろうと思います。そんな事をぼんやり思いつつ狙いを定め、小枝に青天の霹靂。
