Small red pines have neat branches that stretch upwards, while the branches of large red pines grow in a tangled pattern. There's joy in waiting for the rhythm of the large red pine twigs that are out of reach as they fall naturally.

小さな赤松は枝をすっきりと上に伸ばし、大きな赤松の枝は絡まるように育ちます。手の届かない場所にある大きな赤松の小枝には、自然に落ちてくるリズムを待つ楽しみがあります。

There's actually a difference between a pine tree that has been beautifully grown through pruning by a gardener and a pine twig that has grown as it pleases. When you carefully remove the bark, you can sense that the former has a history of pruning, while the latter has a rustic charm.

庭師さんが剪定することで美しく育ててきた松と、好き勝手に育ってきた松の小枝には実は違いがあります。丁寧に樹皮を取り除いていくと、前者には剪定してきた歴史があるように感じられ、後者には野趣があるように思います。

This is a twig that was dropped by a large red pine tree that had grown freely. The flexible branch was spread out with rods while drying, and the necessary strength was obtained by trussing while controlling the change in shape caused by drying. The brass rods, which were added based on the necessity of shape and strength, reflect light when they sway in the wind. Just as the swaying rods diffuse the light, the individuality of the branch gradually emerges as the vectors are interwoven while receiving a reaction force.

これは自由に育ってきた大きな赤松が落とした小枝。柔軟な枝をロッドで広げながら乾燥させ、乾燥による形状の変化を制御しながらトラス化して必要な強度を得ています。形状や強度の必要から加えられる真鍮のロッドは、風にそよぐと光を反射します。揺れるロッドが光を乱反射するように、反力を得ながらベクトルを交錯させていくと、徐々にその枝の個性が現れてきます。

When the seemingly infinite intersections of vectors converge into one, the inherent balance of this individual becomes visible. If I make a change for one reason, many things start to feel inconsistent. This is similar to the convergence of lines in a well-thought-out blueprint.

無限にあると思えていたベクトルの交錯が一つに収束してくる時、この個体が持つ固有のバランスが見えてきます。何か一つの都合で変更すると、色々な辻褄が合わなくなってくる状態のものです。これは熟慮された設計図の線が収束する感じに似ています。

If I were to change the position of the rod for some reason, I would be cautious because it would affect the overall balance. I think this is one example of how even small things can affect the whole. I feel that this leads to not giving up and being considerate.

何かの都合でロッドの位置を変更しようと仮定した時、影響が全体のバランスに及ぶため私は慎重になります。些細な事でも全体に影響を及ぼしうる例のひとつだと思います。諦めないことにも、配慮することにもつながると、自戒を込めて感じています。
