百合は根に力を蓄えて育つと聞いているのですが、岩の上に咲く百合を見ました。根などどこに広げるのかわからないけれど、そこに育ったようでした。

I've heard that lilies grow by storing energy in their roots, but I saw a lily blooming on a rock. I don't know where its roots spread, but it seemed to have grown there.


それは何かが欠けてもうまくいかなくなるような、何かを加えても滞るような、そんな姿でした。

It was the kind of lily that would fall apart if something was missing, or that would stagnate if something was added.

夏に咲いて冬に種を蒔き終えたと見えるその百合は、梅雨が来る頃には折れてなくなります。
これはそんな身近な風景。

The lilies, which bloom in the summer and appear to have finished sowing their seeds in the winter, will break off and disappear by the time the rainy season arrives.

This is just one of those familiar scenes.
