This is a branch that a zelkova tree in the valleys has shed at its own rhythm.

これは剪定されない山谷の欅が、自分のリズムで落とした小枝。

The newly added hinge, the branch unfolds into a shape that bends as it seeks its center of gravity. The starting point is the history of branch that have bent in search of light.

小枝は新たに設けたヒンジによって、重心を探して折れ曲がる姿へと展開されています。起点となっているのは、光を探して折れ曲がった小枝の歴史。

In the village where the studio is located, countless large zelkova trees grow along the river in the valley. Their branches, stretched out in search of sunlight, are often bent and twisted, giving them a different character from the zelkova trees whose branches have been pruned and grown straight.

スタジオのある集落では、谷の川沿いに大きな欅が数えきれないほど育っています。光を探して伸びた枝はよく折れ曲がり、剪定され真っ直ぐに伸びた欅の枝とは異なる趣きを持っています。

In the lively summer, when people play in the water, zelkova trees cast fluttering shade along the riverbanks. In the vivid autumn, when the leaves change color, zelkova trees add color to the river surface by letting their leaves float down. In the quiet winter, when a dry wind blows, zelkova trees sway their delicate branches against the sky.
And the zelkova trees support the shore with their roots, preserving the shallow waters of the nameless bridge I often cross.

水遊びの夏、川岸に木陰を揺らすのは欅。紅葉の秋、谷を流れ彩るのは欅。静かな冬、空に繊細な枝をそよがせるのは欅。そして欅はその根で岸を支え、私がよく通る名前のない橋の浅瀬を保っています。
