In the area surrounding my studio, cedar are grown for lumber. Many wisteria trees grow naturally on that mountain. Wisteria can also be seen along local riversides and villages.

スタジオ周辺の地域では、材木を得るために杉や檜が育てられています。その山には多くの藤が自生しており、地域の川辺や集落でも見ることができます。

The mountain wisteria, which has a rhythm of blooming around May, is an element of the scenery that gently connects the valley village and the riverside, and the riverside and the foot of the mountain as forestry area. I like the sensibilities of villages that focus on the beautiful things around them and nurture them with care.

5月頃になると咲くリズムを持つ山の藤は、谷の集落と川辺、川辺と林業地の山裾を緩やかに繋ぐ風景の要素です。身近な美しいものに目を向けて、大切に育てている集落の感性が私は好きです。

Wisteria flowers are a delight to the eyes of hikers, but when they grow large in the mountains, their strong vines can damage trees that have been grown for timber. Even though they dislikes wisteria due to economic reasons, they admires it with their sensibilities. This region seems to have a complex and beautiful balance.

ハイキングに訪れた人の目を楽しませる藤の花ですが、藤は山で大きく育つと、材木として育ててきた木を強い蔓で痛めてしまう側面を持ちます。経済の側面からは藤に悩みながらも、感性で藤を愛でている。複雑で美しいバランスがこの地域にはあるようなのです。

This is a hard pod of wisteria that can be dried and twisted to release the beans inside. Cedar twigs support the rotating wisteria sheath. I think that the balance of a scenery includes something whose meaning changes depending on the perspective.

これは乾燥して捩れる事で中の豆を飛ばす藤の固い鞘。巻きつくように回転する藤の鞘を支えるのは河原の小石です。視点によって意味の変わるものが、風景のバランスには含まれているように見えます。

The mountain wisteria is waiting for spring, swaying in the cold wind that blows through the valley.

谷を駆ける冷たい風にそよぎながら、山の藤は春を待っています。

I hope that rhythm and balance will lead to harmony.
