I think that this twig, which broke off in last year's heavy snow, protected the trunk by breaking. The trunk that survived the snow bloomed many small white flowers in the spring, grew lush leaves in the summer, and turned beautiful red in the fall. Now, these winter buds are swelling again, preparing for the coming spring.

去年の大雪で折れたこの小枝は、折れることで幹を守ったのだろうと思います。雪を耐えて残った幹は春に白い小さな花をたくさん咲かせ、夏に葉を茂らせ、秋には見事に紅葉していました。今はまたこの冬芽を膨らませ、もうじきくる春に備えています。

冬芽のある時期に雪が降り、雪の重さで折れた小枝が冬芽を持っていることはある種の必然です。風景は変化していくものですが、風景のバランスが保たれている限りこれらは持続的です。多様なリズムが共振するとき、風景はとても豊かに見えます。風景を紐解くと、そこに絡み合っているバランスが見えてくるように感じています。
